Podcasting began with audio files, initially primarily used for music, but quickly branching to audiobooks, speeches and other spoken-word modalities. The application to education was obvious, and some private companies and universities quickly adopted the format for instructional purposes.

One of the easiest ways to find podcasts is to download Apple's free iTunes program. The program is dual platform, and has a Music store where you can find many podcasts, most of which are free.
